The Warrenville Fire Department used our house to practice rescues.
There is a special unit whose primary job is to rescue other firefighters in case of a building collapse.
One week they practiced dragging each other out of the back bedroom, out of the basement, etc.
The next week they simulated hazardous situations - like having to get someone out through a window, or get someone up through a hole in the floor into the basement. Naturally, they had to make a hole to get them through, so Melanie/Jennifer's old bedroom got really ventilated.
